MAY BE FOTtCED TO MAKE PEACE

OWING TO LACK OF NOURISH-

MENT

(Received Oct. 12, 10.30 a.m.) AMSTERDAM, Oct. 11. Count Karolyi, in the Hungarian Diet, pointed out that the cost of living for a family of five in Germany had increased during the war period by 95 per cent, compared with 218. per cent, in Hungary, and added, "We shall probably be forced to make oeace through lack of nourishment. It is vain to conquer provinces l and obtain military advantages if our population has nothing to eat. If famine forces us into peace it will be shameful and disastrous."
