The Farmers' Co-operative Organisation Society of New Zealand, Ltd., report:—
At Opunake yards on Monday, 2nd inst., there was a good entry of cattle and a strong demand for all classes. Few failed' to change owners. We quote:— - Fat qows £10 10s to £13, fa-esh conditioned cows £8 10s to £9 15s, forward cows^_£7 10s to £8 Bs, store cows £6 10s to £7 7s 6d ? empty herfers £4 15s' to £5 12s 6d, yearling steers £4 3s to £5 6s, good yearling heifers £4 18s to £5 6s, others £3 to £4 10s, springing heifers from £10 to £13 for the best, others £6 10s to £9. -
At Manaia ya>rds on Tuesday there was a full yarding of store and dairy stock, which met^vith good competition and prices were" considerably higher than late sales, practically everything being sold. Prime fat cows £12 10s to £13 13s, fat cows £10 10s to £12, fresh conditioned cows £9 to £10, forward cows £8 to £8 17s 6d, 'store cows £7 to £7 L7s 6d, empty heifers and small store cowsi £5 7s 6d to £6 15s, yearling heifers £3, bulls £6 10s to £15, best springing heifers £10 10s to £14, others £5 7s 6d to £10. store pigs 20s to 27s 6d, weaner pigs 5s to 17s 6d. A* Inglewood on Wednesday, 4th inst.j at our cattle sale and bull fair there was a large yarding of stock of all classes. Competition for the stores and dairy cattle was good, but the bulls were dull of sale. Almost a total clearance was made of the store and dairy cattle. Best springing dairy cows sold at from £12 10s to £17 10s, others £8 to £11, best springing heifers £12 to £15, others £6 10s to £10 10s, fat ccws £10 10s to £12, fresh conditioned cows £8 10s to £9 12s 6d, forward cows £7 10s to £8 Bs, store cows £6 10s to £7 7s 6d, ,empty heifers £5 Is to £6 7s 6d, yearling steers £3 15s; to £5, yearling heifers £3 to £4 4s, fat hoggets 29s 6d, store ewes 21s to 24s 6d, Shorthorn bulls £6- to £16, Jersey bulls £5 to £10, Holstein bulls £6 10s to £11, others £5 to £10. At Auroa yards on Friday, 6thinst., there was a large1 yarding of stock, which met with a good sale, and' with the exception of bulls the whole yarding sold under strong competition at advanced rates. Fat cows £11 to £12 12s, fresh conditioned cows £8 17s to £10, forward cows £8 to £8 los,. store cows £7 to £8, empty heifers £5 10s to £6 15s, "yearling heifers £3 12s to £4 17s Bd, Ayrshire bulls £5 to £15 15s, Shorthorn "bulls £10 to £15 15s, Jersey bulls £6 to £10, others £5 to £8 10s, best dairy heiferS £10 10s to £14, others £5 15s to £10, cows £8 to £13, weaner pigs 15s, store pigs 24s 6d.
