A peculiar accident happened to Mr "\V. Rowe, of Waiuku., lately. He was driving. some cows, ana reached over the back.of one cow to strike with a stick another cow along-side the first, and in the act of doing so broke his *>-vi(s+ by striking it on the backbone of the cow nearest to him.
