Hedley White, who conconcluded his ministry at ihe Eltham Methodist Church last Sunday, was presented by the Ladies' Guild" of the> H church and members of the Sunday Scnool with a small token in apprecia tion of his services. Mr Raynor White, of St. John's H Methodist Church Auckland, has been appointed organist and choirmaster of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Lhnstchurch, in succession to Mr Wilired Coulson. Mr White's present choir is considered one of the best in j\ew Zealand. A London cable says that a Barony has- been conferred on Mr Henry Chaplin. * Captain F. E. Beamish, son of Mr fc H J. G. Beamish, of Patea, has been , pasted to the 17th Reinforcements, and ' Captain J. L. Haseiden, son of Mr W. R. Haseiden, S.M., to the 17th Mounted Rifle Reinforcements. Major James O'Siillivan, who has been Director of Defence Stores in Weilir.gton, has been appointed Inspector of Ordnance S\ ores 'throughout * .the Dominion. Major O'Sullivan has been ii the Defence Office for over thirtyseven j rears. He joined the old Armed Constabulary, and vras transferred to> the Defence" Stores Department in 1885. A very old resident of Auckland, Mrs F. L. Prime, died lasfe week, aged 91 years. Mr and Mrs Prime arrived in Auckland on June 25, 1855. and had resided there practically ever since.
