Miss Ivy Helen Okey, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs E. N. L. Okey, died at New Plymouth, yesterday, aged 32 years.

Rev. Father Hartnett, in charge of the Opunake parish, has been ordered by his medical adviser to take a prolonged holiday.

The Right. Rev. Dr. Averill, Bishop of Auckland, is to visit New Plymouth, wherti he will open and consecrate on Sunday the Govett and Bolland memorial transept and lady chapel at St Mary's Church.

The Rev. P. Cooke, Methodist minister of Raetihi, has enlisted. Mr Cooke is a member of the Synod, which opens in Wesley Church, Hawera, next week, and is planned to preach at Manaia, ISormanby, and Hawera Methodist Churches on Sunday next.

Mr T. Kururangi has been appointed acting-clerk of the Native Land Court at present sitting under Judge Jack at Normanby. It is understood that this sitting will conclude the consolidating of matters connected with the West Coast Settlement Reserves.

Sir Joseph Ward stated in Christchurch on Saturday that some misunderstanding might be caused by a Press Association message from Dunedin, indicating that Mr Massey and he would leave Auckland by the Niagara on December 28 for the London Conference. Sir Joseph said that the penciUings of berths on the Niagara had been made for that date, but that did not imply that the date of departure had been fixed. The pencillings were made in case it was on December 28, but the time of departure had not been fixed. As a matter of fact, it was more than likely that December 23 would not be the date.
