PARIS, Sept. 27.' A communique states: We maintained our positions in Artois and maintained our advance east of Souchez. Fighting is proceeding with bombs and aerial torpedoes at Audechv.

The enemy bombarded our positions at Quennevieres and we replied vigorously. There was tenacious fighting -on the entire Champagne front, and we occupied several positions behind our new front in which the enemy had remained. There was an intense bombardment between the Meuse and Moselle and also in Lorraine. A violent storm brought operations in the Vosges to a ■•■standstill. LONDON, Sept. 27. The Daily Telegraph's Rotterdam ■correspondent says the general staff at Berlin is determined to make one more great effort in the West.
