(Received Sent. 6, 11.15 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 5. . The Allan liner Hesperian has been "torpedoed off Fastnet. The passengers, numbering 900, and crew were saved. [The Hesperian was a steamer of 10,920 tons, with a speed of 15 knots, liuilt in 1908. The Allan liners trade with North and South America, and Canada. The line itself was founded hy Capt. Allan, 100 years ago, when lie commenced carrying stores during the Anglo-French wars.] (Received Sept. 6, 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 5. The Hesperian was bound from Liverpool to Montreal and was torpedoed at 8.30 on Saturday night. There were 700 passengers and a crew of 250. Several steamers assisted in rescue ■work.
