NATIONAL CABINET.
PARTY LEADERS' CONFERENCE
[By Telegraph—Speciat, to Star.] WELLINGTON, July 1. The party leaders conferred on the National Cabinet proposal to-day, the Premier afterwards informing your correspondent that the conference was in the nature of a preliminary discussion, and that before any agreement could be reached, if at all, it may be a week or perhaps more.
Enquiries in other quarters indicate that the Government is willing to offer three seats, one of which is a fully paid position, while the Oppositionists consider a National Cabinet should be based on the comparative position of the parties in the House, which would involve five Ministerialists and four Oppositionists in the new Ministry. Prospects of an agreement are not particularly favorable.
