The treasurer (Mr J. Taylor) had also been advised by the secretary of the Auroa Sports Committee thai £32, being half the proceeds of the meeting, had been given in aid of the fund, a similar amount being given to the Hospital ship. In view of ihe good work already done by the Ladies' Committee, it was decided to convene a ladies' meeting on Monday, 31st inst., to organise for further aid to wounded soldiers, and to help the cause generally; Messrs McPhillips and Bennett to attend the meeting.

The chairman (Mr McPhillips) brought up tho matter of-the Dominion making provision for maimed New Zealand soldiers and their dependants, and also for the dependants of those who bnd lost their lives in the service of the Empire. Mr Long strongly advocated this being done, pointing out that it could not be done by individual effort but must be done by the Government of the Dominion. He moved: "That "the Government be asked to legislate to make adequate provision for incapacitated New Zealand soldiers and their dependants, also for the dependants of New Zealanders who had lost their lives in the war." This was seconded by Mr Bennett, and carried unanimously.

It was resolved to hold a recruiting rally, and arrangements were left in the hands of the Chairman and Mr Bennett; also to send out subscription lists in aid of the Hosni+al shin, comforts to the wounded, and the Belgian funds.

Vote 3 of thanks were passed to the treasurer and secretary for their services, to all who had made donations, and all who had so willingly helped in other ways in tbe pood work.
