BOMBS DROPPED IN ESSEX.

TWO WOMEN KILLED

The High Commissioner reports from ILondon on May 27, at 12.10 p.m. :-r-

Two Zeppelins raided Southend (Essex) on Wednesday night. One lady was killed and several persons were injured. Little other damage was done.

The Admiralty announce that late "last night a Zeppelin dropped bombs •on Southend. The casualties were two women killed and a child badly injured. Little material damage was done.

Aeroplanes and seaplanes chased the Zeppelin, which succeeded in escaping in an easterly direction.
