TWO ZEPPELINS ENGAGED.

, ■ 4 LONDON, May 27. Several Zeppelins dropped twenty incendiary bombs at Southend.'

A Zeppelin was seen coming from a north-easterly direction at 10.50, and after it had circled oyer JEsouthend bombs continued falling, and it was evident that another Zeppelin had participated. For half-an-hour in .quick succession lights were followed by heafy thuds.

Other bombs fell in the western quarter of Southend. Crowds watched the bombardment. Two houses were ignited, but extinguished.

The Admiralty report only mentions one Zeppelin.
