HOCKEY.
NORMANBY V, HAWERA B.
The first hockey match of the season was played on Victoria Park on Wednesday, when the visitors suffered defeat by 5 goals to 2. As might be exptiaed, the game was slow and not a. very scientific one, but there is some excellent material on both sides; which should, with practice, provide «ome good hockey as the season advances. It would be unfair at this stage to criticise, but individual play will be mentioned in future matches. Mr,X!ha4wiek acted .very ,impartial^ -as referee. "
