JOIN THE SCOTTISH REGIMENTS

According to figures compiled by the United Irish League of Great Britain, the greatest number of Irish recruits have joined English, Scottish, and Welsh regiments. A notable feature of the Irish rally has been the raising of the Tyneside Irish Brigade, of 5400 strong, at Newcastle-on-Tvne. In Liverpool alone 3500 men joined, while of the 13,000 men who joined the army in St. Helens, 3500 . are Irish. In Scotland, it is stated that several branches of the United Irish League and Ancient Order of Hibernians have ceased to exist owing to the large numbers of their members who have joined the army. Glasgow city has a total of 8470 Irish recruits, Edinburgh of 1863, Dundee of 1700, and Coatbridge of 1825.
