WASTE OF ENERGY.
FATEFUL RESULTS
Among the hundreds of wise and cheerful sayings of Mr 0. S. Harden, in his new book, "Be Good to Yourself," is his warning against the spirit of economy that shuts up the heart, even starves the body, to till the bank account. And orl the other side of the scale is the "no thought for'the morrow" type, which fits badly into the scheme of things. But Mr Harden does not stop at a philosophy of selfhelp and cheerfulness. He shows the stupidity of the employer who does not know when to praise or how to get the best out of his workers. And he does not forget that the foundation for all success is energy or vitality. What enthusiasm is to the mental lif^ is energy to the physical. Nothing can be done without it. The wastage of energy in by-paths causesgreater loss in business and art than anything else. Ability is dead without it.
