A circular was received from the Pahiatua District Hjgh School Committee, stating that it was. the opinion of yae committee that the medical examination of school children, as at present carried out, Mas unsatisfactory and suggesting that public discussion of siich an important subject would emphasise the weak points of the system. There was a long discussion on the question of obtaining • stationery. It has been the custom in the past to purchase this as required, and it was thought ifc would be better if it could be obtained in bulk, and thus save a little 011 the cost. The headmaster was authorised to make up an estimate of what was required, and the secretary (with the headmaster.) was empowered to obtain quotations from the stationers, and submit a renort to the next meeting. The Chairman also referred to the question of the contributions collected from the parents towards the stationery account; some parents paid and some did not, and the whole position was unsatisfactory.
