WELLINGTON,. May 21. At the Supreme Court, Sydney Henry Newstead, a tramway motorman, sued Robert Irving Lawrence for £250 damages for slander. Newstead was a tenant of Lawrence,, and a dispute arose over certain fixtures, defendant threatening he would have plaintiff put in gaol. The jury awarded plaintiff £50 damages.
