VALEDICTORY.

PRESENTATIONS AND GOOD-BYES

At the Presbyterian schoolroom members of the Hawera congregation assembled on Thursday evening to say good-bye to Mrs Sellar and Mr R. G. Sellar, who leave Hawera next week. There was a large attendance of church people. Mr Halliwell, on behalf of the Session, and Mr J. Hookirk, on behalf of the Sunday School, spoke of the earnest and devoted work done by Mr Sellar in all branches of the church's life, and wished him most heartily a good trip, improved health, and the best of good fortune in the future.

The Rev. J. R. Shore, speaking both as minister and as a personal friend, deeply regretted the departure of Mrs Sellar and MrR. G. Sellar. It was, however, inevitable that as the years passed they should have to say good>ve to valued members of the church. It was something Mrs Sellar coald be proud of, that all her children were such good church workers. He had regarded. Mr Sellar as a personal friend, one who understood "the minister's point of view, and whose advice was always sound and good. Mr Sellar^was respected in the town and in the church. He had beea a church man--ager, a Sunday School teacher, and had also taken many services in the country districts, All would watch his future career with interest, and hope tha-t. after he had had a good trip, he would again take un church work wherever he might settle. The congr-ega-.tion felt they could not let their friends go without showing some tangible nroof of their esteem, and therefore had, asked him to present, on their behalf, a brooch to-Mr® Sellar. and a pair of binoculars to Mr Sellar. In reply. Mr Sellar thanked all most * for their expressions of regard to Mrs Sellar and himself. He was extremely sorry to leave Hawera, where he had made a great number of friends. He had always taken an riterest in the work of the church, and would always continue to have a keen interest wherever he might be.

Two instrumental trios were playpl by Miss Scott and Mr and Mrs French.

After light refreshments had been served by the ladies, the National Arthem was sung, and the pronouncin": cf the Benediction brought the meeting to a close.
