RTTROGRAD, May 20
Official —The battle on the left bank of the Upper Vistula on the whole Galician front attained in many districts terrific intensity. We successfully engaged the enemy at Qpatow and on the Lower San, and the enemy established themselves on the banks of the San. We recaptured the trenches of two battalions. The enemy at. Stryi and Dolina, despite immense losses, is continually burling fresh masses oi troops forward. We further progressed on the UnDer Bystritza and near Delatyn and Kolomea., and the prisoners are constantly increasing.
LONDON, May 20. Peirograd states that thirty-three army corps, of which ten are German, "*" occupy a~two hundred miles front from Opatow to Kolomea. A general battle lias begun, which will tax the Russian resources to the utmost. It is most violent at Jaroslav, where there is a desperate struggle at the bridge head. Bussian shells repeatedly destroyed the German nontoons and hundreds perished in the* river. The Germans are bombarding the western forts south of Przemysl. Refugees from Libau 6tate that (*ermans shot the director of a theatre producing a nlay called "Monsters of Kultur." Many girls were abducted ob l>oard German warships.
AMSTERDAM, May 20
An Austrian official report claims they captured 7000 prisoners and eight guns while the Russian forces were crossing tlie San.
