FOOTBALLERS AND THE WOUNDED.

A BENEFIT FUND

The Hawera Rugby Football Club have decided, in common -with many other clubs, to give the whole profits of the coming season.to the fund for wounded New Zealanders. This is much to be commended, and is, in fact, only right in view of the large number of players who left the ranks on the football field to join the ranks of the army. If the Hawera players have as good a season as the average there should be a fair surplus to hand to the treasurer of the fund. N©> doubt the public will assist by attending when possible to see the'matches,, and so swell the gate money.
