GISBORNE, March 16. At the Supreme Court to-day, Paku Peakman. a Maori hailing from Wairoa, was found not guilty of manslaughter arising out of the death of Gerhard Howe, after being knocked down by accused's motor car, on February 13," in Gisbome. * WELLINGTON. March 16.
A young man named Patrick Lee, who had pleaded guilty to three charges of breaking and entering and theft in the Wairarapa district, was sentenced at the Supreme Court. Lee was committed for two years' reformative treatment on a charge of stealing a hor.se and cover. On other charges he was ordered to come up for sentence when called upon.
