PANIC AT A NEW YORK THEATRE
3Y CABLE— PEERS, ASSOCIATIuK—COPYRIGHT NEW YORK, Dec. 17. Five 'ions escaped from an Eighty-! sixth street theatre during a performance, and the audience became panicstricken. The police opened a revolver fusilade amidst the crowd, killing one lion and , wounding a policeman seriously. The Lons then attacked the police, clawing several badly. The lions then fled to different parts of the building, but one escaped to the street and knocked down a photographer named Tooman, who was running from another lion inside the photographic gallery over the theatre. All the lions were finally rounded up and shot.
