It is officially stated that the left wing below Soissons was vigorously attacked by a superior force and gave ground, which.was almost immediately reconquered. On the right bank of the .Oise the Allies continued to progress northward of Rheims, repulsing all attacks. In the centre, eastward of Rheims our attack further progressed; in the Argonne the situation is unchanged; and in the Woevre district rains rendered the movement of troops very difficult.
OSTEND, Sep. 21. In connection with the. collisions between Prussians and Bavarians in Brussels, it is stated that the Bavarians permitted six train-loads of French prisoners from Maubeuge to escape. Widespread insurbordination exists among the Bavarians.
THE HAGUE, Sep. 21. A telegram from Berlin states that the Kaiser's son August Wilhelm was wounded in the left arm. The Kaiser decorated him.
VENICE, Sep, 21. Two hundred thousand Austrian troops are concentrated on the Italian frontier. Hundreds of Italians at Trieste were wrongly denounced as spies, arrested, and their houses searched.
GENEVA, Sep. 21. It is reported at Basle that the German right wing is slowly retiring in good order towards the Belgian frontier.
COPENHAGEN, Sep. 21. The Berliner Tageblatt says the German policy in North Schlieswig has hitherto been greatly mistaken, and the.new governor, yon Moltke, is expected to seek to conciliate "the two nationalities there.
