A British "warship captured the German ship Ponape Ryndam, which, was released after landing German reservists. The Senate of Cambridge University has ofEered Louvain University facilities for continuing its work at Cambridge.
The Daily Mail states that Baron Kuhlmann, recently councillor at the German Embassy in London, is conducting a Swedish press campaign at Stockholm, where he published stories of British disasters, including an alleged revolt in India.
Late on Thursday the valley of the Aisne presented a terrible spectacle, the ground being strewn with dead, and dead horses, in inextricable confusion, broken machine guns, foundered cannon, and scattered accoutrements. The battle was then nearly, a week old. The Allies advanced foot by foot while shot and shell poured on •them like an avalanche, yet they forced the Germans back towards Noyon.

On the slopes above Soissons the British fought in open, order,. each ■man in a little dugout, creeping and 'Sigging as they went. The Germans poured shells on them, but resistance took the spirit out of the enemy.
There was a furious battle east of Peronne between Roissel and St. Quentin, where the French left was endeavoring to cut the enemy's retreat towards Belgium It is rumored at Anriens that the Germans were beaten, as *heir artillery is slackening and ammunition giving out.
. PARIS, Sep. 21. The Germans blew up a railway bridge near Etaples. The Germans caught at Eissel in Trench uniforms were courtmartialled and ordered to be shot.
When the Germans captured Luneville en August 24, they lost 11,000, and lost 20,000 at Nancy on September 6 •and 7.
