THE HUNTLY MINE.

AUCKLAND, Sep. 21. The mining of coal at Huntly has been completely suspended 6ince the disastrous explosion on September 12, but Mr E. W. Alison (chairman of directors) said io-da-y that it is expected that work will be resumed in the Extended mine on Wednesday, and though it is probable that operations will be limited to one shift, it is hoped that the two-shift system will soon be established again. In this mine an adequate supply of safety lamps ha® now been secured. No damage was caused by the explosion in the Extended mine, as the barrier between it and Ralph's mine has been preserved as a protection. Mr Alison 6aid that owing to the loss of so many officials by the disaster there will be difficulty in complying with the requirements of the Mining Act, but the company is-anxious to provide employment as quickly as possible for all the men in its service.
