RUGBY FOOTBALL.
Wairarapa will meet Taranaki on Thursday at Stratford in a contest for the Ranfurly Shield. The visitors have beaten Taranaki on several occasions in recent years, and are always a hard nut to crack. The meeting of the teams is looked forward to with a very £reat deal of interest, and should attract a very lar^e crowd of spectators.
