SCOTT CAPS.

At the reouest of the Indies 7 committee who are arranging for collect I ing funds, etc., for the expeditionary force we publish the following instructions for making Scott caps:—Four steel knittinrr needles, four skeins of wool. Cast on six stitches, arrange on three needles. First round: Increase a stitch by knitting and purling ih first stitch, knit next stitch: work each needle same way. Reneat this till you have six stitches on each needle and have clone four rounds." JMtth round.: Increase in every third stitch. Repeat fifth round " eleven times more. Seventeenth round- Increase in every fourth stitch. Eighteenth round: No increasing Repeat seventeenth and eiirhteentlTroimd till you have 48 stitches on each of three needles lake fourth needle and put do stitches on each noodle Knit 13 rounds, ribbing the work by knitting eight and purling four. Put *3G stitches on heavy wool and "tie the ends: the stitches will be more convenient m than on a knitting needle. Work GG rows on throo needles, continuing th^ ribbing. Cast on 36 stitches on fourth needle, and continue the ribbing unii' nbout six or ei^ht inches are ~ don-^>. Cast off very loosely.
