Fine weather prevailed at Kaponga' when obese unbeaten teams met on Saturday. There was a record gate, about suu spectators being present, liaponga won the toss. Young kicking off ror Waimate. (Joiman, with a good kick, found tho line well down. Give and take play followed, with an advantage to Haponga until Meuli put in a good return. Kapongga kept up the attack and both teams of forwards were playing well. A free kick to Kaponga resulted in a lot of gained ground, the kick finding the line in Waimate territory. S. Cameron made a nice dash and A.-. Patterson, marking near the opposing goal linej enabled D. King to put the ball over the posts. Kaponga 3, Waimate 0. From the kick off Jack Kissick returned well and Kaponga forwards set up a strong attack. 0. Young headed the Waimate forwards in a, counter attack but offside play nullified the advantage, and D. King had another shot at goal. Waimate were being pressed and a free kick relieved the pressure; Then the visiting forwards got in a fine rush and Kaponga were on the defence Good play by S. Cameron sent them back and after an unsuccessful shot at goal half-time sounded without any change in the score.

From the kick off in the second spell Kaponga made the pace and attacked strongly. Ag^in, however, a breach of the rules spoilt their chance. Waimate then retaliated and only hard kicking spoilt a score. Keeping up the pressure, however, Waimate.put in a fine passing rush and G. Meuli, got over the line. Waimate forwards kept their opponents' backs busy, and Colman had an unsuccessful shot at goal. Shortly after Kaponga were forced down as the resn\b of a long kick.
