NO HOPE.
GISBORNE, June 1
Mrs Hailey, mothei- of Mr A. P. Bjailey, of Gisborne, and formerly of Rotorua, who left Vancouver on May 21, intending to embark on the Empress of Ireland, has received a cablegram stating that he was aboard, and that there w no hope of his having l>eeu saved.
- At all the meetings of the Salvation Army on Sunday sympathetic references-, were made to.the Empress of Ireland disaster, and special prayers were offered on behalf of the relatives of those who were lost. At the •evening service at St. Mary's Church, Amhdeacon Cassell asked the congregatum ; to Rive special prayers for those who had been* bereaved through the disaster.
