On Friday, 23rd ir.sti at my Waiwakaiho yards, there was again... a full .yarding with an excellent attendance of buyers'." The quality of the cattle was in most instances not up to previous yardings, but nevertheless competition was good, practically everything offered being cleared at the following prices: Weaner steers, £2 5s 6d to £2 6s; fair sorts, £1 10s to £1 16s 6d; small, £1 2s 6d to £1 6s 6d; nice lines of Jersey and Holstein weaner heifers, £2 9s 6d to £1 15s 6d; good grades, £1 15s 6d to £1 7s 6d; mixed weaners, £1 8s to £2 5s 6d; empty 20-months heifers, £2 7s 6d to £2 18s 6d; good 18 and 20-months steers, £4 4s to £3 16s; good picked 2-year Jersey heifers, £6 8s; grade 20-months heifers in calf, £3 15s to £3 18s; fat cows (none offered); forward cows, £4 15s to £5; cows with condition for boning, £3 14s 6d to £4 4s 6d; others, £1 to £2 16s; good store cows, £3 to £3 15s; light cows, £2 7s 6d to £2 17s; dairy cows, £3 15s to £5 15s; small lambs, 9s 6d. The dairy cows offered on account of Mr S. Allemair were low in condition', and although being young cows did not realise high prices, buyers being rather afraid of the condition. The best cows sold up to £7 ss; others, backward, £4 10s to £5 7s 6d.

On Monday, at Douglas, there was a good yarding of all classes with keen competition for everything offered, the full muster fetching the following prices: Mixed weaners, £1 18s to £1 Is; in-calf heifers, £3 2s; empty 20----months heifers, £2 18s; 2 and 2^-year steers, rough, £4 10s to £5; 20-months and 2-year steers, £3 16s to £3 19s 6d; forward cows, £4 16s; store cows, £2 16s to £4 3s; small lambs, 8s 7d to 10s 9d; 2-tooth wethers, 16s Id to 16s 6d.

On the same day at Prankley Road, New Plymouth, I conducted a clearing sale for Mr E. J. Baker. Bidding was good and everything was cleared as follows: Best dairy cows from £7 to £9 15s; second calvers, due late in season, £4 10s to £6 10s, averaging £6 for the line; bulls, £4 ss; empty heifers, £2 15s 6d; springing heifers, £4 12s 6d to £5 7s 6d; weaner bulls, £2 4s; weaner steers, £1 19s; weaner heifers, £1 12s.

At Stratford, on Tuesday, 26th inst, I had a very good entry, with buyers from all parts. I had several good lines of sheep, for which I had enquiry, but owing to vendor's high reserves was not able to sell many at the hammer,, although I made a good clearance privately. Competition for weaners was good and also for good conditioned cows. A nice pen of 2i to 3-year steers in fair condition realised £6 ss. Other prices were: Good weaner steers at from £2 3s to £2 6s, and from £1 12s to £1 15s for fair sorts, small 16s to £1 ss; weaner heifers, £2 Is 6d to £1 12s 6d; fair lines, £1 9s 6d to £1 lls; small, 11s to £1 4s; empty 20-months heifers, £2 10s to. £3 4s 6d; bulls, £2 17s to £5 ss; in calf 20-months heifers (poor line), £3 7s; very rough line of 18-months steers ( and low in condition, £2 18s; fat cows (very few offering), £6 to £6 18s; forward cows, £4 5s to £4 13s; store cows, good, up to £4 4s; light store, cows, £2 16s to £3 9s; boners,with condition,. up to £3 12s 6d; others, £1 5s to £2 lls; .f.m. ewes in lamb, 15s Id; fat ewes, 20s 6d; lambs, good, 14s 4d; others, 12s 9d to 7s 6d. '

At Stony River, on Wednesday, 27th, I had a good yarding of all classes, for which the demand was good, evtrythirig being cleared at the following prices: Weaner heifers, £1 8s to £1 12s; small, 13s; weaner steers, good, £1 18s to £2 ss; others, £1 8s 6d to £1 15s; weedy or small, 16s to £1 8s 6d; springing heifers, £5; in-calf 20-months heifers, £3 3s to £4 3s; dairycows. £5; weaner bulls, £1 lls to £1 15s; rough line of 18-months steers ( £3 9s; empty 18 and 20-months heifers, .£3 12s to £2 7s; fat cows, £6 4s; good forward cows, £4 13s to £5 15s; good store cows, £3 10s to £4 6s; light store cows, £2 16s-to £3 7s 6d; aged cows, £1 10s to £2 lls; small line of very prime woolly lambs, 17s 6d.

On Thursday, 28th inst, at the Salisbury Road, Tuna, for Mr J. W. Archer's clearing sale, I had a good attendance and competition for everything offered. The dairy cows were a good line, and sold very readily at from £8 15s to £14 15s, averaging £9 Is 6d; empty heifers realised £2 19s; breeding sows, £4 10s to £5; Midhirst dairy shares, 16s 6d.
