THE LADIES' JUNE 3rd TOURNEY.
Entries are coming in very satisfactorily. The committee are very hopeful of its turning out a huge success from every point of view. With Buc'h teams as Ngatimaru, New Plymouth High School, Manaia, Stratford, Kaponga, Patea, Matapu, Hawera, Whatika (New Plymouth), Hawera Higli School, and Hawera Public School (and other teams who are expected to enter) there is no doubt that the public will be able to witness gome of the finest games played in the North Island. Each team will play every other team, and each will be eleven (11) aside, so there should not be a dull moment. The committee have decided that the first game will commence at 10.30 a.m. sharp, as there is a big list to go through. Dinner time will be called at 12.30 p.m., and the afternoon games will be resumed &t 1.30 p.m. Extra trophies have been given (including two gold medals and a hockey stick) as well as the silver cup (presented by Messrs Donaldson. Catran and McDowell).
There still seems to be a scarcity of referees. Messrs Thompson, and Gardiner will be available at a later date, but this is not near enough to cope with the headway hockey has made in our district. "Enthusiast" would l'ke to hear from any who are willing to control a-.same each Wednesday.
