At the eleventh hour a gonfcleman had given information wtieh showed that she was apparently .uffering from mental derangement., <-r a •disease involving a dual personality, so that she might write letters to herself, and yet, when she received their, have no knowledge that she had Tvttien * ' them. Colonel Gardiner was discharged. • without a stain on his character.
