WOMEN'S CONFERENCE.

STRONG CONDEMNATION OF IMxMODEST DRESS.

BX CABLE—PEESS ASSOCIATION—COPYEIGHT.

(Received ?»Jareh 5, 11..>0 a.*r.) MELBOURNE, March 5. The Australasian Women's Conference has resolved that all members of the Association shall refrain from the prevailing fashion of indecorous attire. The mover of the motion v.armly condemned the prevailing fashions and said it was dreadful to sit in the trams and the trains with women who had lost all sense of decency and rodesty. She was surprised that theGovernmeiyt had not taken action. If the .unfortunate class of women wore such costumes^the police would arrest them. It was degrading to respectable women to see others wearing insufficient clothing to cover the body. She saw in a window display "tango" underskirts being \iewed more by men than by women. A delegate interjected: "Like their cheek."

Another speaker urged that vomen should take action to prevent such displays of indecency, which were shocking and disgraceful.
