a + + i March 3. At the Methodist Conference the following recommendations were adopt-

Twenty-three old ministers on the list continue to be supernumeraries. ? eV 'S i. 1;- ?" D^Bbury (Auckland), Joseph Blight (Auckland), and T. W JNewbold (Dunedin) were recommended for another year by their synods. The conference agreed to the synod's recommendation that four ministers become supernumeraries. The four ministers are Revs. W. J. Williams (regarding whom a highly-appreciative motion was unanimously adopted), C. Griffin (Taranaki), W. & Bowie (Northern Wairoa), and L. Hudson (Timaru), the last three for one year. The Rev. S. Griffith was granted a year's rest' with permission to visit England The case of the Rev. Robert H. Wylie (Dunedin) was referred to the committee to report.

The Rev. Arthur H. Scriven offered for foreign work and was delegated to Papua. The offer of Mr Aldwyn R. Gordon, a student, was noted. The president' reported the resignation of the Rev. T. H. Lyon on account of ill-health; also the retirement of Messrs Norman Hyde (a probationer) and James Charteris. a student (known a« the boy preacher). The action of the president in accepting the. resignations was confirmed: Permission was .-given to the Rev. W. Slade to visit England. The _ following probationers were passed in the respective years : —Revs A. H. Fowles, F. Frost,' L. B. Neale' H. L.RiVhards, W. Rnwe, G. B. Hinton, F. B. Lawrence. J. E. Parsons, W. Walker, W. A. Watson, A. A. Bensley. H. T. Peat.

The following weifie received on probation^ 0. Burner, F. T. Harris, U. B. Speirs.

Ten students are to be continued in the Theological College, and the following; candidates ?^*e now received for training: W. T. Bliedit, G. T. Brown, C. H. Kendon, G. fl. Law*. The Rev. C. A. Foston and J. R. Sullivan were received for circuit work, and the Rev. Hamiorn Kinqi (Maori missioner) was superannuated.
