The American Davis Cup Committee has announced the receipt of a challenge from Germany, and that Canada has now joined with France, Belgium, Australia, and England. The committee expressed a hope that all the preliminary matches would be played in the United States, as being the most suitable meeting ground for all parties.
LONDON, March 3. The International Tennis Federation, at the end of the month, considers a proposal to add to the rule governing service the following words: "And provided that such foot is replaced on the ground behind the base line before either foot is placed on the court." The Americans consider the proviso is aimed directly against McLoughlin, whose servioe was his greatest asset, whilst it will also embarrass Brooked.
The principle of one service will also be mooted.
Wilding does not favor drastic provisions becoming additions to the law of the game.
