CHIEF SCOUT'S FIRST-BORN

The wile of General Sir Robert Baden-Powell gave birth, on October 30th, to a son' at their country residence. Ewhurst, Sussex. Lady Baden-Powell is a daughter of Mr Harold Soames, of Lilliput, Dorset, and was married to the Chief Scout on October 3()th last year, their son and heir being thus born on the first anniversary of their wedding.. They first met on board a steamer sailing to the West Indies, and their subsequent j engagement caused much enthusiasm throughout the whole organisation of Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, which is the outcome of Sir Robert BadenPowell's energy. After the wedding Sir Robert and Lady Baden-Powell took quite an original honeymoon trip, choosing for the first months of their .married life a residence in the heart of Morocco and Algeria. There they "roughed" it in true nomad fashion, pitching and folding their tent where fancy led them. Lady Baden-Powell acquitted herself splendidly throughout the ordeal, and proved herself capable, by industrious scouring, of turning out many different dishes from the same saucepan without mixing the flavors.
