A WOMAN'S DEATH.

AUCKLAND, Dec. 22. At the inquest on Mrs McLoughlan it was stated -that her real name was SyKes. and she had lived apart from her husband for several years with Mclaughlan. The evidence showed she had been drinking during the after-> noon. The medical evidence, showed that she was burned from feet to-neck; the remnants of her underclothing having to be cut off under chloroform. The coroner so id there was no doubt that deceased had walked into the embers and set fire-to'her clothing. There was little evidence as her state of mind prior to the act, but she had evidently been distressed, and that, in coniunction with the terrible means employed, satisfied him that at the time she was of .unsound mind, and he returned a verdict accordingly.
