MOTOR-CAR RUNS AWAY.

WESTPORT, Dec. 22. A motor-car accidefit occurred on the Buller Gorge road to-day, whereby Mrs Tyers, wife of Mr Tyers, of Christohurch. formerly of the Income Tax Department, fractured a leg, an eight-year-old lad named Liddy fractured a thigh, and a man named Bowman was severely, bruised. There were several others in the car, which ran away just as drivers had been changed at the top of Burley's Hill, and went over an embankment, but -i the. rest escaped with, slight injuries. The car was badly riamaped. At the hospital to-night, Mrs Tyers' fractured leg was amputated above the ankle.
