A suggestion that New Zealand should join with Australia in establishing a fund with which towse'nd an Australasian team of athletes to compete at the Olympic Games in Berlin in 1916 is, contained in a letter .which the Mayor (Mr C. J. Parr) has received from the Lord Mayor of Sydney. The latter mentions that, at a large-gather-ing of influential citizens, held in Sydney, it was decided that such a fund should be established, each of the Australasian States and New Zealand starting funds, the proceeds of whicfi. might he placed together in an Australasian fund when the-time came for selecting a team from the various parts of Australia and New Zealand. Mr Parr remarked to a reporter that, pro 4 viding it was possible for New Zealand to Join in an Australasian movement on a ■ satisfactory basis, he thought that the suggestion might be worth acting upon.
