Note, quotations (unless otherwise specified) are. average market prices on spot:—■ Mutton: The market is firm and stocks on hand are light. Island 5d to 5Jd for best quaUty, ewes 4 3^l6d. Lamb: The market is firm. Stocks on hand are light and firmly held in few hands, with the result that there is evidence of a rise in prices. Canterbury, twos, 6Jd, as high as 6£d has been obtained in more than one instance.; heavy weights, 5Jd. Beef: The market is steady at last quotations, with good demand for hinds. Chilled hinds 5Jd, fores 3|d. Butter: The market is quiet and prices slightly weaker. During this week considerable enquiry has been made for very large quantities of Australian and New Zealand butters for shipment to United! States or American ports. Danish. 130s to 1335; New Zealand, 124s to 128s; Australian, 116s to 120s; Arwntme 116s to 118s; Siberian, 110b to 116s. •

Cheese: There has been no alteration in_^?e ihe*se market since last week. Wooli: The market is weak, but the general opinion is that it seems to have touched bottom.
