FAILURE TO CLOSE DURING THE STRIKE.

In the case of Daniel Buckley, licensee of the Foresters' Arms, who was charged with keeping open during the currency of the order to close issued by two justices, the Stipendiary Magistrate held {hat the fact that it was common knowledge that the strike was operating in the city and matters generally in a disturbed condition, was sufficient justification for the justices in their fear of further tumults. Their might be a doubt as to the validity; of the order, but lie did not think this court had jurisdiction to review it. A' fine of 20s was imposed.
A similar fine was imposed in the case of John James Firth, of the City Hotel.
