ABSCONDING CASHIER
PARIS, Dec. 18. The cashier in the Paris-office of the New York Herald has disappeared with £5000 belonging to the paper. He left a letter explaining that at first he took £4000 to finance a. scheme for selling pearls in America. His partner had abandoned the business and gone off with the money; therefore he had taken £1000 more, hoping with this help to make the enterprise a success.
