A MODERN DIANA
The Duchess of Aosta is making preparations to quit civilisation for six or soven months, and go hunting again in the African jungles. It is her intention to go without any female companion, but the native boy whom she brought back from her African travels three, years ago will return with her. She will take only such baggage as the boy can carry on his back. Her dress will consist of leather breeches and a^ rough shooting coat, with which she will wear heavy top boots of strong leather. The duchess is going after
big game, and intends doing some exploring also. Her family are in ignorance regarding plans, for she declares that she does not know them herself in detail. However, it is her intention to penetrate far into the equatorial district, and to fraternise' ffeeiy with the natives. No letters Iwe to be expected from her for months; nor will she receive any from her family. She will hire a small bodyguard of natives, and carry, a tent to sleep in. For food she will depend upon her prowess as a hunter to supply the party. Her two sons will remain meanwhile in Naples. The eldest boy, Prince Amaidee, begged to accompany his mother, but. their father,' the Duke of Aosta, and King Victor Emmanuel, their cousin; have absolutely refused to allow either of the boys to leave Italy with their mother, ,
