CABLE—PBESS ABSOCIA.TION-COPYBI3HT. AUCKLAND, Dec ,20. Over 1000 special constables were cvitertained in the Town Hall last night by the Citizens' Defence Committee, Major Lusk presiding. Major Xaisk, who took a prominent part in organising the specials, was presented with an illuminated address, amidst 4 prolonged and mo6t enthusiastic cheering. A presentation was also made to the officers of the specials, and the farmers' wives were cheered again and again. The announcement that the seamen had declared the strike off provoked a storm of applause and cheering.
