Acceding to a request from 552 clergy -the Bishop of London has decided that -a prayer may be used on the last Sun,--slay of the year for a peaceful settlement of the Irish question. The Daily Chronicle says that Mr Asquith will t place himself in communication with Lord Lanedqwne and Mr Bonar Law for a. preliminary survey of the ground, and a free and /informal exchange of views on Home Rule will be - commenced.

. Major the. Hon. J. R. Boscawen was originally invited to distribute prizes to the Territorials at Dudley, but the officers cancelled the engagement, owiig to Major Boscawen having made a speech in which he said that he would xesign his commission and offer his services to, Ulster if the Government sent • troops to shoot the men of Ulster before a general election. Lord Willoughby De Broke, in a speech in London, said he would not be a party to approaching the Army in -■connection with Ulster's resistance, Lut "the Government must recollect that the Army is only human.-
