MANAIA.

■•"-— ...» ■ . (From Our Own-Correspondent.) The annual concert by the pupils of the Manaia Convent School was held in the Town Hall on Wednesday evening. The weather, which'had been atrocious for the past 24 houH, cleared during the afternoon and evening, and as a consequence there was an excellent attendance, including many visitors from surrounding districts. The various items on the programme were rendered in a very pleasing manner without a single hitch, and as usual gave unmistakable evidence of careful and painstaking preparation by the sisters. Amongst the more noticeable items were the vocal duet by Misses Hunt and Donald, xeceived with wellmerited applause, and the Ribbon Dance—a series of intricate and graceful evolutions in which the inextricable tangle anticipated by the casual observer was skilfully avoided. The entertainment concluded with a bright character sketch, in which the pupils taking part acquitted themselves most creditably. The prize list was- read by the Rev. Father Saunderson, who cordially thanked the audience for attendance. The accompanists were Misses N. and C. Carroll, E. Landers and B. Howard.
