VETERANS' HOME.

WELLINGTON, Dec. 9. The annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the Veterans' Home was held this morning, the Governor presiding. It was reported that during the year the capital had increased from £9440 to £974O 3 but owing to a decrease in subsidy and collections of £108, "a deficit of *£272 had to be charged against the accumulated fund. The average maintenance cost of resident veterans averaged 13s ll£d a week per head. The Governor was re-elected president, Hon. E. Mitchelson treasurer, and Colonel R. J. Collins secretary. The Board passed a resolution of sympathy with the widow and family of the late Sir William Russell, one of the founders of the institution.
