(From Our Own Correspondent ) PERSONAL. Mr McLachW assistant at the local brench of the Bank of New Zealand has recexved notice of his transfer to J'ongaroa. ' DwingSatn^ay»6tehnia,at the local courts, opportunity was taken by Mr KnelLpresident ©f the club, to present on behalf of thfe club mimbers, Mr John Russell with a gold-mounted penaant in recognition of his. valuable eeruoes to the club in diffeneaat capacities during; the past season. Mr Russell suitably acknowledged the gift/and 6tated his regret at leaving vJpunake and Opunake people, as during his brief stay amongst them > everybody had studied to make his visit a pleasant one; Mr Russell, who .has been visiting Opunake for the benefit of his health, is now leaving for the Old: Country. STOCK SaiK. There was* large attendance of farmers and stock-raisers at. the local salo-= yard* on Monday. All forward stock brought under the hammer caused keen bidding, but stores and. backward lots were not at all in demand. , HORTICUJLTURAJL SOCIETY. The adjourned.annual meeting of the PRM^ake Horticultural. Society, was held in the Town Hall.on. Tuesday. Present —^Messis Judson (chairman) and a fair number of members. The annual bal-ance-sheet showed a credit balance over all liabilities in the : general account of £13 Is 9d,the credit oft the trust account •being.afiP 17s. Members considered the; financial; positiiott; very satisfactory, in view of the drawbacks which the Society had had to battle against IThe balance-sheet, as read,,,was adopted.
