PROPOSALS FOR DEVELOPMENT

At a large meeting of settlers and business men at Mokau on Saturday (the Taranaki Herald reports), the following resolutions were carried: — "That this meeting is of the opinion that, in the interest of settlement generally, the Government should carry out the promise made by it 13 year's 5,^0, and complete and metal the main load between Waitara and Te Kuiti." '-That the attention of the Government be drawn to the advantages that would accrue from the opening up of 1 ie upper reaches of the Mokau river for launch traffic."
