TRADE IN GREENSTONE.

ANEW INDUSTRY. BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION. GREYMOUTH, Sept. 8. Mr F. J. Waltis, the Sydney director of the New Zealand Greenstone Company, is at present visiting the Coast. He states that the aerial ropeway is nearing completion, and that before many months the company will be in a position to export green serpentine decorative building stone. Enquiries" received from Britain, Germany and America indicate that there will be ro difficulty in securing ready markets. The Commonwealth Government has decided to use the stone in connection with its new offices in London, and it is hoped that it la not yet too late to have, aimost exchisively, the New Zealand product included in the Parliamentary buildings at Wellington. A plant stiffi- ! cient for the output of 100 tons in eight hours has arrived, and further finishing machinery has been ordered. The company is confident that it will be able to place green serpentine on the market at a price to compete with marble and other decorative stones, in any part of the woi'ld.
