QUARANTINE ESCAPEES.

(Received Sent. 8. 12,30 y,m.) 'SYDNEY, Sent. 8. The five smallpox patients who escaped from quarantine but later voluntarily returned scaled a fifteen feet wall and four wire fences. Besides visiting and making purchases from shops they mingled freely with the crowd in the streets-. They rendered themselves liable to a fine of £100 or two years' imprisonment. To prevent further escapes the police now patrol the quarantine boundaries.
